Creating Connection: Blog

meeting at the school

Today I met with teachers at one of my children's school.  How was mindfulness useful in this case?  In so many little ways.  I went with a hoped for outcome - a positive plan to address the situation.  But then I had to be open to listening to what the teachers and my child said (letting go of preconceived expectations).  I needed to be mindful of what the school could offer now (letting go of previous experiences) what my child would agree to, and what would work as a family.  To be mindful that the teachers want my child to succeed, and to acknowledge and let go of what as happened in the past.

Every moment in life is an opportunity to be open to what is happening around us.  Practicing mindfulness is so much more than sitting on a chair and meditating.
